In the event of you cancelling your stay with us, we have to make a charge to cover our potential loss of income. We will advertise your original booking dates and try to resell your visit, but due to our remote location and the time it takes to travel to us, this isn’t always possible to fill the dates at short notice. 59 Degrees North Limited accept no liability for any belongings left in the cottages, motorhome aire or geodomes at any time. If you have valuable items that you wish to leave in a secure place, please let us know and we will store these for you at your own risk.

NOISE – BEING CONSIDERATE NEIGHBOURS TO EACH OTHER AND TO THE WILD LIFE

We want all our guests to enjoy a peaceful relaxing stay with us. To keep the island tranquil and so as not to disturb the wildlife or other guests, we do not allow any music or radios outside the cottages, geodomes or motorhomes as noise is easily carried by the wind for long distances. As there may well be young children sleeping, we also ask you to be conscious of how much noise your party are making around the camp fires at night. Likewise if parents of young children can try to let the adults sleep in in the morning, without unleashing the children to the great outdoors until after 8am it would be appreciated!

After 10.30pm the only sound that should be generally audible in the meadows are hooting owls and the snuffling of the otters along with a low murmuring of our guests enjoying the sunset and some tranquil star gazing. If you are looking for loud music, dancing and a bar, this is not the site for you!

In exceptional circumstances we reserve the right to ask your party to leave if there is repeated noise after having received two warnings and as you will have breached the terms of your contract with us, no refunds will be forthcoming.

LOGS, STICKS AND CAMPFIRE WOOD

Wood and coal for campfires and BBQ’s can be purchased from our honesty shop for £5 a bag or from Sinclair General Stores or the Community Shop in Lady Village.

GENERAL SAFETY/ RESPONSIBILITY FOR CHILDREN AND DOGS

Each cottage and geodome has a smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, fire blanket and a fire extinguisher. There are 2 exits from Muckle cottage and one exit from Helzie cottage. All properties are non-smoking and we ask that this includes the outside areas around the cottages, geodomes, hot tub and picnic areas.

STRICTLY no fireworks or firearms permitted anywhere on the 59 Degrees North Limited site!

DOGS

Dogs – are very welcome to stay in our cottages and geodomes, providing muddy paws and bellies are clean before entering the cottages. Please use the throws provided on any furnishings & beds! Please keep your dog on a lead at all times and clean up any mess straight away.

There is a one-off additional charge to cover our additional cleaning time for dogs staying in our cottages, there is no additional charge for dogs in motorhomes.

Please don’t leave your dogs alone in the cottages at any time. We have neighbours who offer a full home from home boarding service with large, secure outdoor space if you wish to have a dog free day or evening out.

We take every care to ensure that you have a safe and enjoyable holiday, but cannot be held liable for any accidents or consequential loss or damage to the guest’s possessions on the property or land.

BREAKAGES/DAMAGE

Please leave the cottages tidy and let us know if anything gets broken, so we can replace it for our next guest. We will only charge for replacements in exceptional circumstances, as we expect a degree of wear and tear. Accidents happen and it’s much easier if you let us know that something is broken so we can replace it quickly for our next guests.
